Jake Graving

Jake is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Collective Behavior at the Max Planck Institute of Animal Behavior and the University of Konstanz. He studies how biological systems acquire and process information for making decisions. His research on desert locusts and other systems tests key assumptions of animal behavior at multiple scales by integrating computer vision, machine learning, and information theory. He is particularly interested in how swarms coordinate their movement and how individual behavior contributes to the dynamics of group-level behavior.
